The Real Reason I Ask You to Journal

It’s not because it’s trendy. It’s not because I think you need one more thing to add to your already overwhelming to-do list. And it’s definitely not because it’s cute.

I ask you to journal because I know what happens when we don’t let things out.

Unspoken thoughts become pressure. Pushed-down pain becomes physical. Avoided emotions? They turn into patterns — the kind that sneak into your relationships, your confidence, your body, your sleep.

I’ve watched this play out for decades. In women I’ve sat with in psychiatric hospitals. In couples on the edge of collapse. In clients who smile while silently falling apart. And yes — I’ve seen it in myself.

Because when life gets heavy, and we don’t process what’s happening? It doesn’t disappear — it builds. And the longer we carry it, the heavier it gets.

Journaling isn’t just “writing your thoughts down.”
It’s pulling truth from your gut and getting it onto paper. It’s saying the thing you’ve never said out loud — even if it’s only to yourself.
It’s stopping the swirl in your brain long enough to hear what you actually feel. It’s choosing honesty over perfection.

You don’t have to write well.
You don’t have to be poetic.
You don’t need the “right” mood.
You just need to show up.

(Okay — real talk: I did find a pen I’m obsessed with. It’s the S-Gel Sharpie, medium tip. It glides like butter, and I’ll absolutely include one for anyone who orders a softcover journal. Because yes, I’m that passionate about how it feels to put your truth on paper.)

But honestly? You could write your truth with a crayon on a napkin.
This isn’t about perfection — it’s about release. About getting it out so it doesn’t own you anymore.

Here’s what I hear all the time:
“I’ve never been good at writing.”
“I don’t know where to start.”
“It feels awkward.”

Here’s what I tell them every time:
You don’t have to be good at anything. You just have to be honest.
Write what you’re feeling. Write the thing you’re scared to say.
Start there.

That’s why I created the STG Wellness journals.
Because I know how healing writing can be.
Because I know the power of asking the right questions.
Because I know how many people feel lost in their healing and don’t know where to start.

You start here.
You start with a question that cracks something open.
You start by answering honestly — even if your voice shakes.

This isn’t just a journal.
It’s a mirror.
A flashlight.
A reset button.

And if you’re ready to meet yourself again — you already have everything you need.
