I Forgot Who I Was — And Then I Decided to Come Home to Her

There was a stretch of time — maybe a few years, maybe longer — where I was everything to everyone.

• I was the playdate planner.
• The appointment scheduler.
• The bedtime enforcer.
• The one who answered the phone every time it rang — because someone needed support.
• The social worker.
• The problem solver.
• The organizer.
• The friend who always showed up.
• The strong one.
• The one who didn’t need help.
• The one who kept it together.

And somewhere in the middle of all that doing…
I forgot how to just be.

I wasn’t journaling. I wasn’t walking. I wasn’t sleeping well.
I was quick to snap and quicker to cry.
I felt disconnected, numb, unmotivated — and so damn tired.

But here’s the truth:
That wasn’t who I really was.
That was the burned out, depleted, overextended version of me.

The real me? She’s grounded. Honest. Full of fire. Fiercely devoted to her own peace.
The real me doesn’t perform for approval — she lives in alignment.

And one day, I decided it was time to come back home to her.

I stopped apologizing for needing rest.
I said no more than I used to.
I walked. I journaled. I asked for help.
I stopped picking up every call, answering every text, saying yes to everything out of guilt.
I built a life where I was allowed to take up space.

And I’m still building it. Every single day.

This is the work — and it’s hard sometimes.
But I’m here to tell you that you’re allowed to do it too.
You’re allowed to come home to the version of you who’s been buried under the weight of all the things.

She’s still in there.

And she deserves the time, the care, and the attention you’ve given to everyone else for far too long.
