Start Saying the Thing You Swore You’d Never Say Out Loud
There’s a moment in nearly every journal I’ve created where the real shit hits the page. It’s the moment you stop editing your truth. The moment you write the thing you swore you’d never say out loud. And I know—because I’ve lived it.
As a therapist with over two decades of experience, I’ve sat with women who’ve buried their truth so deep they barely recognize themselves anymore. They whisper their stories like they might shatter if they speak too loud. And I get it. I’ve watched women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, even 60s finally write what they’ve never told another soul. The secret. The rage. The ache. The need. The truth that once felt too risky to speak.
I’ve also been that woman. There came a point in my own life when I had to say the hard thing. I had to own what wasn’t working. I had to cause the disruption. And it was terrifying. I knew it would rattle the relationships around me. I knew some people wouldn’t understand. But what I didn’t fully grasp until I did it… was how powerful it would be to finally stop performing and start being.
When you stop pretending — when you stop swallowing the words, smiling through the ache, and tolerating what drains you — something wild happens: You get free. You get clear. You get loud. You get unapologetically you. And let’s be honest: this kind of honesty isn’t for the faint of heart. It means you might be misunderstood. It might shake your foundation. But I promise you this — it will also show you who’s really in your corner. It will show you how strong you actually are. And it will begin to return you to yourself.
I’ve seen it happen in real time. In session. In hospital rooms. In recovery circles. In the lives of women who finally stop writing the edited version and start writing the truth. Saying the thing changes everything. Not because it fixes it overnight — but because it begins the shift from silence to self-trust. From shame to self-worth.
So if you’ve been swallowing your truth for the sake of keeping the peace, let this be your permission slip. You’re allowed to disrupt what isn’t working. You’re allowed to want more. You’re allowed to say the thing. And you’re allowed to heal out loud. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s scary. Even if your voice shakes the first time.
Start writing the truth — not the version that keeps everyone else comfortable. Our guided journals are designed to hold space for your loudest thoughts, quietest fears, and deepest fire.
